Ginger

Ginger is used as herb for a long time in Asia including India.  Also, ginger contains in Chinese herbal formation treated with psychotic disorder for many hundred years.  Bnxiahoupu which consisted of ginger can treat with several metal illnesses including depression, anxiety and schizophrenia [1].  In male mouse study, ginger can attenuate the depression which is associated with serotonin activity as well as ginger also reduce the anxiety in female mice [3], [4]. Moreover, anti-anxiety effect of ginger can equivalent to diazepam [4].  Ginger may increase the activity of5-HT (1A) receptor which results in decreasing the anxiety and depression [5]
